Aïsha Devi

In 2005, Aïsha Devi released her debut album Reflections Of The Dark Heart under her pseudonym Kate Wax. Further albums, singles and compilations followed until 2012 on various labels such as Mental Groove, Output and Border Community. After a spiritual awakening, Devi reinvented herself musically and began performing under her real name. In 2013, Aïsha Devi founded the experimental label Danse Noire together with Niels Wehrspann and Raphael Rodriguez. She developed a spiritual understanding of music with which she opened up new worlds of experience: Devi expanded her vocal spectrum with throaty overtone singing, experimented with mystical poetry, semitone harmonies or binaural frequencies. She later signed with the record label Houndstooth, where Of Matter And Spirit, her debut album under her real name, was released in 2015. In 2017, Aïsha Devi participated in the production of Chinese artist Tianzhuo Chen for the opening piece of the Vienna Festival 2017. In 2019, she was invited by Irish-British electronica artist Aphex Twin to open his performance in New York City.

A constantly-working and touring performer, Aïsha Devi recently performed in various major music events, such as The Broad Museum, the closing concert of CTM festival, or composed and performed with the BBC Concert Orchestra. Death is home is Aïsha Devi’s third album release under her real name. In 2020, she was one of the winners of the Swiss Music Prizes.
