Lakna

Her art is made up of sensitive lyrics and rhythmic melodies with a rnb/afro/pop/soul feel.

The daughter of a Burkinabé Griot and a Genevan actress, Lakna has always been steeped in musical culture. Naturally, she has been singing since the age of six. She grew up between two opposing worlds, as her brother and sister lived in Burkina Faso. In Switzerland, Lakna grew up with all these ambivalences.

Her current project is dedicated to these ambivalences: consisting of two EPs, the first (UTC-0) was released in February 2024. The second (GMT+1) was released in September 2024.

In the collective imagination, mixed-race identity is equated with a refusal to take a stand. Throughout her musical career, Lakna has often confronted the difficulty of being an in-betweener. How do you define music that is inspired by opposites? In response, she has decided to produce two EPs that form a project. It will be somewhere between soul and French chanson. In it, you'll find the questions of a mixed-race life in two-speed Switzerland.

Lakna uses her music to expose the depths of her identity. Each EP addresses a different facet of her identity: the first (UTC-0), is rooted in R'n'B and soul.n The second (GMT+1), will be fueled by electro and solar rhythms.

In her music, she combines elements of Brazilian funk, R&B and electronic music to create her own unique style.

Her Brazilian roots serve as inspiration for her to bring Brazilian funk into her music and give it a personal touch.
