WORKING CLASS LIEDERABEND / SONGS NIGHT

Wir freuen uns auf einen Konzertabend der anderen Art: Am Working Class Liederabend bringen euch Musiker*innen Geschichten über die Kämpfe im Leben und den Schmerz, aber auch über die Hoffnung, die es sich in der Musik und im Zusammensein immer wieder neu zu finden lohnt. Wenn schon alles an den Arsch gehen muss, dann am liebsten in vertrauter Wohnzimmeratmosphäre, zu den weisen Anekdoten von Nils van der Waerden und den trotzigen Saiten von Fish On The Mountain. Oder stecken sie uns an mit ihrer Aufmüpfigkeit?

Nils van der Waerdens Tastenanschläge schwingen seit Jahren auf derselben Frequenz wie die Herzen der Zürcher Linken. Der Musikkabarettist kann alles von Alleinunterhalten bis zur Chorleitung, aber seicht wird es niemals! Mit Witz, Charme und Biss nehmen seine Texte unsere Welt aufs Korn, und die Pointe will nie weniger als die Revolution. Wir freuen uns unendlich darauf! (Und auf Nils auch, natürlich.)

“This machine kills fascists”, stand in den 1940ern auf der Gitarre der Legende des Amerikanischen linken Folks, Woodie Guthrie. “What will we do when we have no money?”, fragt heute die junge Irische Band Lankum. In diese Connection proletarischer Folk Music über den Atlantik und das vergangene Jahrhundert hinweg steigen auch Fish On A Mountain ein, die uns die typischen Instrumente der Irischen und Amerikanischen Working Class (Banjo! omg) in die Stube bringen, mit all ihren Stories übers Stürzen, Aufstehen, Trauern und Feiern. Viel zu cool – wir wollen es nie wieder missen!

We are looking forward to a concert night of a different kind: Working Class Songs Night brings musicians to Baden who tell stories about the struggles and pain in life, but also about the hope that is always worth finding anew in music and in being together. If everything must go to shit, then preferably in a trusted living room atmosphere, accompanied by the wise anecdotes of Nils van der Waerden and the defiant strings of Fish On The Mountain. Or do they infect us with their insubordination?

Nils van der Waerden's piano strokes have been resonating for years with the hearts of Zurich's leftists. The music cabaret artist can do everything from solo entertaining to choir conducting, but it never gets stale! With lots of charm and biting wit, his lyrics take aim at our unjust world, and the punchlines want nothing less than revolution. We are infinitely looking forward to it! (And to Nils, too).

"This machine kills fascists," was written on the guitar of American Left Folk legend Woodie Guthrie in the 1940s. "What will we do when we have no money?" asks the young Irish band Lankum today. In this connection of proletarian folk music across the Atlantic and the past century, Fish On A Mountain get on board, bringing the typical instruments of the Irish and American working class (banjo! omg) into our living room, with all their stories about crashing, rising, mourning and celebrating. Way too cool - we never want to miss it again!
