KRIS MESS | SOUND BATH

Each season, a series of sound baths will bring together three artists, each of whom will perform three times, once every two months. This programme is an opportunity for these residents to experiment with the evolution between each performance, to invite other artists to collaborate and to familiarise themselves with the sound system and its possibilities.

Les bains sonores regrouperont à chaque saison trois artistes qui joueront chacun·e·x trois fois, soit tous les deux mois. Une occasion pour ces résident·e·x·s d’expérimenter dans l’évolution entre chaque proposition, d’inviter d’autres artistes à collaborer et de se familiariser avec le dispositif sonore et ses possibilités.

In jeder Saison findet eine Reihe von Klangbädern statt, bei denen drei Künstlerinnen und Künstler eingeladen werden. Jede Person gestaltet drei Auftritte im Abstand von jeweils zwei Monaten. Dieses Programm bietet ihnen die Gelegenheit, über die Zeit hinweg an der Weiterentwicklung ihrer Arbeiten zu experimentieren, andere Künstler zur Zusammenarbeit einzuladen und sich intensiv mit dem Soundsystem und dessen Möglichkeiten vertraut zu machen.

Melanie Meystre is a multidisciplinary artist from Vevey who lives and works in Fribourg. After studying visual arts at EDHEA (Bachelor of Fine Arts), she continued her studies at the HKB (Master in Contemporary Art Practice), where she focused her artistic practice on performance.
Attracted to music as a child, she decided in 2022 to integrate her self-taught sound practice with her performance practice, and moved from the virtual space of soundcloud, where she used to share her music, to give her first concert, under the name kris mess.
kris mess is an organised mess, an eclectic mix of electronic, club and pop influences, interspersed with ethereal and sometimes brutal sounds and melodies, driven by a desire to blur genres as a way of unsettling the listener's experience.

Melanie Meystre est une artiste pluridisciplinaire originaire de Vevey, vivant et travaillant à Fribourg. Après avoir étudié les arts visuels à l’EDHEA (Bachelor Fine Arts), elle poursuit son cursus à la HKB (Master in Contemporary Art Practice), où elle concentre sa pratique artistique autour de la performance.
Attirée par la musique dès son enfance, elle choisit en 2022 d’intégrer sa pratique sonore autodidacte à sa pratique performative, et passe de l’espace virtuel de soundcloud, où elle partageait sa musique, pour donner son premier concert, sous le nom de kris mess.
kris mess c’est un désordre organisé, une rencontre éclectique d’influences électroniques, club, pop, entremêlées de sonorités et mélodies éthérées parfois brutales, porté par la volonté de brouiller les genres, comme moyen de troubler l’expérience de l’auditeur·ice·x.

Mélanie Meystre ist eine multidisziplinäre Künstlerin aus Vevey, die heute in Freiburg lebt und arbeitet. Nach dem Bachelorstudium der Bildenden Künste an der EDHEA vertiefte sie sich mit einem Master in Contemporary Art Practice an der HKB, wobei sie ihren Fokus auf Performance setzte.
Schon seit ihrer Kindheit fühlte sie sich zur Musik hingezogen. 2022 beschloss sie, ihre autodidaktisch entwickelte Klangpraxis in ihre künstlerischen Performances einzubinden. Sie wechselte von der digitalen Musikwelt auf Soundcloud, wo sie ihre Tracks veröffentlichte, auf die Konzertbühne und präsentierte ihr erstes Live-Set unter dem Projektnamen kris mess.
kris mess steht für ein organisiertes Chaos: ein eklektisches Aufeinandertreffen elektronischer, cluborientierter und poppiger Einflüsse, durchwoben von ätherischen wie auch rohen Klängen und Melodien. Ihr erklärtes Ziel ist es, musikalische Genres zu vermischen und so das Hörerlebnis gezielt herauszufordern und zu hinterfragen.
